The Taipei Public Library serves as the Northern Region Resource Center. The library collection includes publications (as well as video and audio materials and database resources) in Chinese, English, and Southeast Asian languages. The book collection of the resource center can be found on the 5th floor of the library, and the audio-video collection can be found on the open shelves in the Audio-video room on the 8th floor. Taipei City was selected as the World Design Capital 2016; consequently, “Culture and Creativity” is the featured topic of the Northern Region Resource Center. In addition to increasing the number of quality books, the center has procured electronic books on related subjects to expand the diversity of the library’s collection to meet the demands of all library patrons. |

The New Taipei District Resource Center is located on the 4th floor, the Teenager Zone, of the New Taipei Public Library. It is accessible through public transportation; one can reach the library by exiting at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital Station of the MRT and taking a five-minute walk. The New Taipei District Resource Center and the brand new library building opened on the same date. The featured topic of the collection of the New Taipei District Resource Center is Books for Young Adults. In the three years following its opening, the center will procure 40,000 books in Chinese, English, and Southeast Asian languages. Creative activities and facilities specifically designed for teenaged patrons offer rich and wide-ranging information services to them. |

The Taoyuan District Resource Center was originally located in the library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taoyuan County Government, but has now moved to the new location. With the high-quality "multicultural" theme as the collection feature, it will gradually collect books in Chinese, foreign languages, and Southeast Asian languages, and provide readers with rich multicultural information services through various reading promotion activities such as themed collection exhibitions. Taoyuan County has the largest number of foreign workers in Taiwan. The county is home to ethnic groups such as Hokkien, Hakka, aborigines, other provinces, and new residents. It is the epitome of Taiwan's diverse society. The regional resource center has set up the "Multicultural" theme book area on the anti-vibration bookshelves and peripheral low cabinets of the Taoyuan District Resource Center on the 6th floor of the main library, forming a trend of surrounding the resource center. Books on other themes and books in Western languages are placed on standard bookshelves. |

The Central Region Resource Center is located in the Huludun Branch of Taichung Public Library, previously the Cultural Center of Taichung County. The featured topics of the Central Region Resource Center are “Multi-cultures” and “Weaving”; the library’s collection is on display, based on different categories. Books on the featured topics of “Culture and Creativity” and “Knowledge” can be found on the 1st floor basement of Building A of the library, while books on the featured topics of “Teenagers” and “Multi-cultures” can be found on the 3rd floor of Building B of the library. Conveniently located in the center of Taiwan and easily accessible by public transportation, the library is an important venue for cultural displays and exhibitions in Central Taiwan, and is a favorite place for readers to learn and grow through reading. It is predicted that the Taichung Public Library will take over the joint operations of the Central Region Resource Center and will continue to increase its collection when the construction of Taichung Public Library is completed in 2017. The reading welfare of Metropolitan Taichung and other counties and cities in the central region of Taiwan will be thus greatly enhanced. |

The Miaoli District Resource Center is located on the 4th floor of the Public Library of Miaoli County. Close to the Miaoli County Government, the Miaoli District Office, the Miaoli Arena, the Miaoli International Cultural Tourism Bureau, the Miaoli Train Station, and the Miaoli Bus Terminal, it is located in the cultural, political, and economic center of Miaoli City and benefits from convenient transportation and a good school system. In order to offer quality reading services to county residents, the first three floors are open to the public as reading areas. Moreover, the 2014 budget allocated funds to reconstruct the 4th floor as a group reading area; therefore, with the establishment of the district resource center, the public has access to quality books selected by National Central Library and can participate in a wide range of reading activities and lectures. The featured topic of the collection at the Public Library of Miaoli County is “Hakka Culture”. The library is located close to the Cultural Tourism Bureau, and supports the local cultural and creative industry and local literary development. Thus, the featured topic of the collection of the Miaoli District Resource Center is mapped out as “culture and creativity.” Related workshops will be held regularly to attract the public’s participation in activities and to promote reading. |

Yunlin District Resource Center is located on the 2nd floor of the library of the Cultural Affairs Department of the Yunlin County Government. The policy of Yunlin County is to establish itself as “the Agricultural Capital”; consequently, it has attracted many young people to return to their hometowns. In terms of folk art, Yunlin County has more temples than any other county or city in Taiwan, so it is famous for its temple festivals. Thus, the featured topic of the library collection is “Knowledge,” and the core collection includes “agriculture,” “floriculture,” “folk art,” “cultural and creative industry,” etc. In the future, a series of themed reading promotion activities, such as “Friendly Environment and Agricultural Ecology,” “Appreciation of Folk Art,” and “Puppetry Art and Cultural Creativity”, will be held in accordance with the changes of the four seasons and the agricultural routine of “ploughing the field in spring, tilling it in summer, harvesting in autumn and storing of grain in winter” to attract the public at large to participate. |

The Southern Region Resource Center was originally temporarily located on the second floor of the Zuoxin Branch of the Kaohsiung Public Library. After the opening of the new main Kaohsiung Public Library in November 2014, it was also set up on the fifth floor of the main library. Currently, both the Kaohsiung Main Public Library and the Zuoxin Branch Library house collections of the Southern Region Resource Center for public use. The four featured topics of the collection of the Southern Region Resource Center are: “Books for Young Adults,” “Multi-cultures,” “Cultural Creativity,” and “Books on Knowledge,” with “Knowledge” as the main feature of the collection. |

The Tainan District Resource Center is located on the 3rd floor of the Tainan Public Library; it is divided into four theme areas according to the featured topics of the library collection: “Multi-cultures,” “Teenagers,” “Culture and Creativity,” and “Knowledge.” It offers comfortable reading areas to attract the public to use the library. Tainan has rich cultural offerings, and many people in the cultural and creative industry have moved to the city in recent years. Near the Tainan Public Library, one can find “Lane 321 Artistic Settlement on Park Road” and the “Tainan Cultural Creative Industry Park” which now form a new cultural, creative, and artistic area; consequently, the featured topic of the library collection is “Culture and Creativity.” In the future, combined with the collection of the Kaohsiung Public Library, the center will offer an inter-library loan service and showcase the library collection to the public through multiple reading promotion activities, such as “Reading or Not: Tainan Loves Reading.” The TV Reading Club promotes reading in the southern area of Taiwan. |

The Eastern Region Resource Center is located on the 1st floor of the library of the Hualien County Cultural Affairs Bureau. With a backdrop of majestic mountains and ocean, it aims at cultivating teenagers with its unique local features of the humanities, arts, and literature. Thus, the featured topic of its collection is “Teenagers.” Through its “Reading Club of Teenage Volunteer Workers” and the sharing of regional resources, it hopes to construct a library with “Interwoven Fabric of Mountain, Ocean, Art, and Literature” for teenagers. The Eastern Region Resource Center covers the service offered by the Library of Yilan County Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Library of Taitung County Cultural Affairs Bureau. Through the coordination of all the libraries in the eastern region enhanced by cultural creativity, the center will offer services to the public in Eastern Taiwan with a mechanism in place for sharing multiple reading resources. |
